It used to be John, Paul, George and Ringo - but now it's Ian, Pete, Greg and Kev!

The formation of MP4, parliament's first pop band seems to have caught the imagination.

Here are the people and some of the shots of MP4 in action.

Still Rocking!!
Another shot of us on stage.
We enjoyed our bit and watched some of the other acts that followed.
However, we could not match the audience who sat through nearly three hours of acts without a break!
We watched about 20 minutes and then went to the pub!
Still it raised a lot of money for Macmillan Cancer Care - an excellent charity and well worth all the effort everyone put in.

Finally - here we are on stage
So the show opened with MP4 singing "Can't Buy Me Love" followed by "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?".
This is the first song so no audience feedback at this stage.
Still it seemed to go well - it certainly was a lively start to the night!

Soundcheck!
Just 90 minutes to go to the show and we are on stage running through our numbers.
It doesn't go particularly well, problems with one of the amps and in getting the balance right.
Still you know what they say - bad rehearsal - good performance!

Press call for debut gig
This shot was taken on the day of our first gig.
It's taken in the Atrium Restaurant in Millbank where we strummed and sung around the piano for the benefit of the press until the BBC (based upstairs) asked us to shut up! (wouldn't have happened in Greg Dyke's days!)

First publicity shot
Taken in a committee room in the House of Commons!
This was taken to be used in the programme for our debut gig for Macmillan Cancer Care.

MP4 first meeting
In a recording studio in Chelsea on the 22nd October 2003, MP4 meet up for the first time and soon they will become legends in their own minds!

Kev
Kevin Brennan has been the Cardiff West MP since 2001 and before that worked as a Special Advisor to Rhodri Morgan the First Minister in the Welsh Assembly.
Kev plays guitar in MP4 and gives Ian a helping hand with the vocals.
Pop music is a new venture for Kev and he had to buy an electric guitar and amp for the purpose. However, he has performed in his own locality at various folk club venues but we don't hold that against him!

 |
 |
Greg
Greg Knight is the Tory MP for East Yorkshire and the drummer in MP4.
He elected in 2001 though had been an MP before and was a whip when John Major was the Prime Minister.
Indeed Greg claims it was this experience of beating things that led to him being a drummer!

 |
 |
Pete
Pete Wishart is the Scottish Nationalist MP for North Tayside and the keyboard player in MP4.
Pete is the only member of parliament ever to appear on Top of the Pops when he was the keyboard player in Runrig.
He was elected to parliament in 2001 and retains a great interest in music matters.

Ian
As bass player and vocalist Ian is returning to his roots. Over the years Ian has played in many local bands, Mandrake, Sneeky Feet, Zebra, Brix, Chinese Whispers and The Moggies to name a few!
Ian can still be seen from time to time persuading reluctant local musicians to let him join in on stage!
