Venue:

Other details:
This first ever meeting between Crown and Trinity at Messingham threatened to get out of hand in an incident packed first half which saw 4 bookings (2 each) 3 disallowed goals and 3 further goals being recorded. Crown took the lead on 10mins when Trinity failed to clear and the ball was thumped home from the edge of the box. Trinity were robbed of an equaliser two mins later when a Jason Harper shot was tipped over, with the resulting corner being touched home before being cleared but the Referee just waved play on ! On 20mins it was Crowns turn to be upset by the referee when they had a "goal" disallowed. Trinity, still with regular keeper Glynn Sparks injured and Graham Dixon deputising were leaving him exposed on several occasions resulting in him having to make several excellent blocks. Trinity did draw level on the half hour when Jason Harper struck a dipping shot from 30yards. Soon after this the first of two melees saw a player from each side receive a yellow card, this was quickly followed by another Crown goal being disallowed, Green being offside. With the game threatening to get out of controll now, Green was guilty of a bad tackle on Trinitys Rick Camplin quickly followed by a mid field scuffle involving several players from both teams with Green lucky only to receive a yellow card along with Jack Haughey who was making his first start since his world tour ended. Football returned before half time with Crown taking the lead following a corner. The second half started badly for Trinity with two goals conceeded in the first 10mins. Trinity replied with a spell of pressure but could not reduce the 4-1 scoreline. Again Crown stepped up the pace and two quick goals on 70 and 74mins gave the scoreline a slightly unjust look. Trinity did manage another score with 10mins left. The lively Danny Barnes broke into the box and just as he was about to shoot he was felled from behind. He picked himself up and scored from the spot kick to end the scoring for the day at 6-2 to Crown.

Geg McGowan Cup Round 1
Trinity FC - 1
v
AFC Pumas - 3

 |
 |
Venue:
Co-Op
Other details:
On a wet, cold and windy morning at the Co-op ground Trinity found themselves with just 12 players available, including the veteran trio of Des Comerford, Keith Harper (getting ever closer to a milestone 600 games for Trinity) and League Secretary Keith Dixon who wrapped up well to be substitute. Things got worse before kick off, when stand-in 'keeper Chris Short injured his shoulder in the warm up and straight from kick off Des Comerford pulled a muscle ! With less than five minutes on the clock Trinity had to reorganise. Graham Dixon replaced Short in goal, with Keith Dixon coming on to replace the injured Comerford. Even with all these problems, Trinity matched AFC Pumas in the early stages, with the conditions being the only winner. The game swung AFC Pumas way after 35 mins when following a period of pressure they went in front. Trinity did not give in and mounted a period of pressure leading up to half time. With the elements now in their favour Trinity started the second half strongly, with Jason Harper, Danny Barnes and Mark McCrea all going close before Chris Short hammered in the equaliser from close range after 55mins. The game was now opening up with chances at both ends. With thoughts of extra time beginning to appear AFC Pumas edged in front again, scoring direct from a free kick just outside the box. With time running out Trinity pushed forward in the last few minutes but could not get another equaliser. AFC Pumas had the final say, with virtually the last kick of the game, Graham Dixon unable to hold a low shot which eventually was bundled home. An excellent fighting performance by Trinity came to nothing but they should take heart from their efforts. Mention should also be made of an excellent performance by referee Andrew Pontin.

Venue:
West Halton
Other details:
With this division 4 fixture taking place on Rememberence Sunday both teams observed a minutes silence. As was the case last season, this game produced a feast of goals with honours this time being deservedly shared. It took only 2 minutes for the first goal to arrive, Winteringham taking advantage of some poor defending. Des Comerford, playing his first game of the season, seemed to have tieded up a Winteringham attack but a poor clearence by standin Trinity 'keeper came straight back into the net. Trinitys defence claimed an equaliser on 7mins, when left back Comerford floated over an inch perfect free kick for centre half Keith Harper to power a far post header into the net. Following this frantic start the game settled down with neither side producing any clear cut chances. Winteringham did however regain the lead on 36mins when a cross from the left swirled in the strong wind and somehow ended up in the net. H-T 2-1. The second half was 4 mins old when a long Comerford throw deceived the Winteringham defence and Phil Brumby nipped in to score Trinitys second equaliser. Trinity found themselves 3-2 up after 55mins when Mark Jackson picked up a loose ball on the half way line, seeing the 'keeper was off his line he took aim and shot. Again the wind played a part as it sailed past a surprised Winteringham 'keeper to put Trinity in front for the first time in the game. With 70mins on the clock an excellent move by Graham Dixon set Brumby free infront of goal, he rounded the 'keeper but somehow missed the target by some distance! Minutes later this miss looked to have cost Trinity the points as a Winteringham corner was headed home to make it 3-3, and shortly after this a long shot found the top corner to put winteringham back in front. Trinity were not to be denied their deserved equaliser when with 3 mins left Chris Harper thumped home a free kick from 25 yards!

Other details:
On a morning that was dominated by the strong wind & rain Trinity & Brumby Hotel served up an entertaining game of football. The opening 10 mins saw both teams attacking and having chances in an open game, with Jason Harper having a good effort go wide for Trinity after 3 mins. Trinity took the lead after 15 mins when following a superbly placed Danny Barnes corner Mark McCree headed home. This led to a period of Trinity pressure which culminated in their second goal when after 25 mins Jason Harper scored after a "sweet" thro' ball from Jordan Morrison. Trinity extended their lead to 3-0 after 37 mins with a lomg range shot from outside the 18 yard box from Chris Harper. The second half saw Brumby using the wind to their advantage and had a sustained 15 mins of pressure on the Trinity goal, forcing deputising keeper Chris Short to make a number of saves. Against the run of play Trinity on a break away attack were awarded a free kick and Chris Harper scored his second of the game, again from long range giving Trinity a 4-0 lead after 60 mins. Brumby continued to attack, not giving up the desire for a goal and were awarded a penalty in the 70th min when Trinity defender Garrick Simpson was adjudged to handle the ball on the line. He was sent off for his sins and Brumby scored from the penalty. The final 20 mins saw sustained Brumby pressure but Trinity had break away chance to extend the lead. The final score was Trinity 4 Brumby Hotel 1

Other details:
This division 4 game played in near perfect conditions, at the Co-op ground turned out to be a very scrappy affair which neither team deserved to win. The only goal of the game was however worthy of winning any game. A 36th minute corner was only partly cleared and when it came back into the Trinity penalty area a spectacular overhead kick found the top corner. Before this, the first half hour had been mostly played in mid field. Jason Harper going close for Trinity, followed by a missdirected Malt Snooker back pass which caused the keeper to scramble it away. Just before the goal a Malt Snooker effort did hit the bar, while the clearest chance fell to Trinitys Chris Short following a neat lay off from Graham Dixon which was well saved by the Malt 'keeper. The second half produced a dour 40minutes in which both teams failed to have any meaningful efforts at goal. With time running out Trinity threw everthing forward hitting the bar and creating a massive scramble which saw Malt Snooker clear off their line twice, before claiming the points!

Other details:
Trinity, with several regulars missing, including goalkeeper, Glyn Sparks who was taking part in the Great North Run, started the game well. They could have taken an early lead when an excellent Mark McRea through ball sent Jason Harper on a run through on Andrew Thompson in the Hibaldstow goal who produced a good save. On 10min, Jason Harper turned provider setting a good chance up for Jack Haughey, but he wanted too much time to control the ball and the danger was cleared. Mid way through the half the game sprung to life, with Trinity opening the scoring on 27min. Jason Harper again ran through the Hibaldstow defence and this time he directed his shot past Thompson and into the bottom corner. Less than 5 mins later and it was 1-1 when a Hibaldstow forward waltzed through the Trinity defence before beating Chris Short with a low shot. Neither 'keeper were called into action again until well into the second half. For the 3rd time in the game 'keeper Thompson was faced with Jason harper again, the keeper winning the battle again. Hibaldstows chance came on 70 min when following a half cleared corner the return cross was headed just over. The final chance of the game came with 10min left, A long ball up field left Jack Haughey racing Thompson and another Hibaldstow defender, Haughey beat the 'keeper and got his 30yard shot away as the defender closed in, unfortunately for Trinity his effort hit the underside of the bar before being scrambled clear. The final score being a fair 1-1 draw.

Other details:
Trinitys proud unbeaten run of 12 league games, stretching back to Christmas, came to an abrupt end in this division 4 clash at Luddington. An understrength Trinity never got to grips with a no nonsense Duffs Team that ran out comfortable 6-1 winners avenging a reverse score to Trinity in last seasons Challege Cup. Trinitys consolation goal came from Mark McCrea. This was the first game for many, many years where none of the TFC management team were present. The lads did well to sort the game out but were bitterly dissapointed with the result.

Venue:

Other details:
For the second successive week, Trinity came close to a cup giant killing act. This time second division Brigg Servicemen were left hanging on for their victory. The game started with a very strong wind, blowing diagonally in Briggs favour. This created the first near miss of the game when an Andy Morris corner bounced on top of Trinitys cross bar. Brigg were constantly pushing forward now and another Brigg corner produced an excellent Glyn Sparks save. With the game nearly 20mins old Trinity produced their first chance when a flowing move set Phil Brumby free but his shot hit the outside of the post. After this fairly quiet opening a flurry of 5 goals in 8 minutes certainly brought the game to life ! On 23 mins Brigg SM took the lead with a fierce 20yard shot. Three minutes later and it was 2-0 with a similar effort. Straight from the restart Trinity pulled a goal back when a surging Brumby run set up Danny Barnes. Brigg restored their two goal lead straight from their kick off when a shot took a deflection and the spinning ball deceived a brave effort to clear from Chris Glass. 3-1 (27min). On 30min it was 4-1 to Brigg when yet another shot from outside the area was not closed down, giving Sparks no chance. After this the game eased off again until after half time. On 55min Brigg SM had a "goal" dissalowed for offside and soon after a cracking Brumby shot was just over. Trinity did pull a goal back with 15min left when a shot was fumbled by the Brigg 'keeper leaving Brumby a tap in. Another flurry of goals seemed pssible as two mins later A excellent piece of work by Mark McCrea set Trinitys Jason Harper up for a Trinity 20 yarder! With Trinity going all out for an equaliser Brigg came close twice in the closing stages with virtually the last kick of the game clipping the Trinity bar. So a good Trinity comeback failed to take the game into extra time, leaving Brigg Servicemen to give a sigh of relief as they move into round two to meet first div Auld South Yorks.

Venue:
WCL
Other details:
Trinitys first venture into the Lincs FA Sunday Cup for several years saw them nearly pull off a giant killing act as they more than matched their division one opponents and only lost by the odd goal in 5 after extra time had been played. The first chance of the game fell to Barge Inn after 5min, when a punch from Trinitys birthday boy goalkeeper, Glyn Sparks fell to a Barge Inn forward, whose cracking shot hit the bar. Trinity responded with an excellent through ball from Jack Haughey which set Jason Harper free but the Barge Keeper blocked well. This was repeated twice more before Barge broke away on the half hour, this time a brilliant recovering tackle by Garrick Simpson saved the day. As half time loomed Trinty came close to opening the scoring when an excellent save by the Keadby keeper kept out a 35yard shot from Phil Brumby. Barge however did open the scoring right on half time when a freek kick was cleared for a corner but the resulting corner produced the opening goal. Trinty opened the second half determined to get back into the game, which they did on 51min when another 30yarder from Brumby this time did find the top corner. With an hour gone Barge regained the lead in a controversial manner. Trinitys centre half Simpson was ordered from the pitch to remove a plastic bracelet, worn by many players both locally and in the Premiership. Whilst he was missing Barge went through his position to go 2-1 up. This was very rough on Trinity who had been on top at this stage. They were not to be denied though and with 12 min left, Simpson picked out Brumby who in turn set up Jason Harper for Trinitys second equiliser. The game now entered extra time and the warm weater began to take its toll on both teams. The pace of the game fell dramatically. Neither team producing anthing of note in the first period. Barge struck what was to be the winning goal with 10mins left. A hopefull long ball was badly missjudged by Chris Short allowing a Barge forward to nip in and round the keeper for the winner. Before the end an excellent goal line clearence by Trinitys Graham Dixon kept Trinity in the game leaving Jason Harper with the chance of glory at the other end but he shot straight at the relived Barge 'keeper!

Other details:
Trinitys new season got off to a cracking start as they played Queens FC in this division 4 fixture at the Co-op. They raced into a 3-0 lead in the first 12 minutes! New signing Mark McCrea set the first goal up for Jack Haughey to score after only 3 mins. With only 9 mins gone Chris Harper headed the ball down for Haughey to score again. Three minutes later and a surging run by McCrea produced himself a debut goal. If Trinity thought it was going to be an easy game Queens soon put paid to that when with only 20mins on the clock they took advantage of some poor defending to pull a goal back. This lead to a spell of Queens’s pressure, which failed to produce any further goals. Trinity hit back as the first half drew to a close. McCrea set up Phil Brumby who’s effort was just wide, a similar end came to a Danny Barnes shot, followed by three quick Trinity corners which all came to nothing. The second half got off to a slow start with Queens given hope as miss kicks first by Chris Short and then ‘Keeper Glyn Sparks put Trinity under pressure. The first real chance came halfway through the half when a short corner fell to Trinities Rick Camplin but his well struck effort was just over. As the game entered the last five minutes, it livened up once again, when a Trinity throw was flicked on by Queens’s secretary, Nathan Smith, causing his keeper to be alert! The last minute produced Trinitys fourth goal through the Harper dynasty! Keith and Chris putting together the move which resulted in Jason scoring.
